Labels

From participation trophies to prizes for everyone. We lie in a society where we have a hard time accepting who we realty are. Therefore we create labels, in order to distance ourselves from the negative aspects that we don't want to put in the work to change and instead highlight who we wish to be. We constantly hide behind labels instead of confronting the hardest and unflattering parts of ourselves to do better. We hold others in contempt for not validating the fain persona that we have created in our minds even when our actions show otherwise.

People want respect without being respectable. They want honor without being honorable. Worse yet they want praise while knowing they are in the wrong.

This has all been exacerbated by the instant gratifications of social media. Priorities have completely flipped. Valuing "likes" and 'photographs' over character and talent. People strive to emphasize the appearance of looking great instead of actual greatness. Society has been a continuously inflated balloon that is stretched so thin and ready to pop. The hot gassing people up to believe that they are more significant than they really are. And when it all pops, what does each person have left to live with.
